Academic career: I have been involved in competitive forensics as a competitor and a coach for over a decade. I began my coaching career in 2008 at Sam Houston State University in Texas. Within four years, I had built a team to more than 20 members and 11 national titles. I am a multiple time national champion in Public Debate and the youngest recipient of the International Public Debate Association's (IPDA) Bennett Strange Coach of the Year award. I recently completed my term as Chair of the IPDA Governing Board. I specialize in debate and public address. My primary areas of research are forensics pedagogy, public discourse, nonverbal and semiotic communication, and protest/political rhetoric.
