Dr. Harrison, a native of Alabama, has worked as a political strategist and coordinating consultant for various local, congressional and state-wide elections around the South. He received his degree in communication and information science from the College of Communication and Information Science at the University of Alabama. He is a critical/cultural/rhetorical scholar and his primary research interests are in politics, social movements, and economic constructions of social identity. He also has secondary research interests in media portrayals of concussions in sports and leadership and brand management in corporations. Dr. Harrison’s teaching area includes social movements, political communication, organizational communication, business and professional communication, rhetorical criticism, and public address. He is a member of the National Communication Association, Southern States Communication Association and the American Society for the History or Rhetoric. His research has appeared in the Carolinas Communication journal and has been awarded top paper status at various international and regional conferences.
