Kimberley LaMarque a native of Boston, joined the Tennessee State University faculty in 1997, in the Department of Communications and holds the title of Associate Professor of Theatre, and Director of Tennessee State University’s award winning Forensics Team.

In addition, Ms. LaMarque serves as the Associate Producing Artistic Director of The American Negro Playwright Theatre, as well as Associate Producer for b.scott Productions.

She holds a BA from Columbia University, MFA from the American Conservatory Theatre, and studied classical theatre at the National Theatre of Great Britain. As a professional actress, Ms. LaMarque is a veteran of the theatre, having performed at a myriad of regional theatres across the country such as Alabama Shakespeare Festival, The Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles Theatre Center, Portland Center Stage, Grove Shakespeare Festival, American Conservatory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, as well as Tennessee Repertory Theatre here in Nashville.

In addition, Ms. LaMarque has toured in Australia’s International Theatre Festivals of both Perth and Adelaide. Her film and television credits are numerous. Currently, Ms. LaMarque performs an original Performance Lecture based on the life and times of Rosa Parks entitled A Tribute to Rosa Parks, The Mother of the Civil Rights Movement. Through lecture and theatre, LaMarque recreates the life and character of Ms. Rosa Parks. In addition to being an accomplished actress, Ms. LaMarque has a host of directing credits including Macbeth, with a Matrix flavor, Jar The Floor at Tennessee State University’s Performing Arts Center Theatre, Julius Caesar with a hip-hop flavor, A Street Car Named Desire and Jane Eyre at the Poag Auditorium, Stuff at the Belcourt Theatre, as well as Three Sisters, Romeo and Juliet, and A Joyful Noise at The Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Ms. LaMarques assistant directing credits include: Dance on Widows Row, Acted within Proper Departmental Procedures, The Old Settler, Blues For An Alabama Sky, A Raisin In The Sun, Two Trains Running, Joe Turners Come and Gone, and Flyin West.
