At Tennessee State University, we define a transfer student as someone who has attended any college or university after graduating from high school. If this description fits you, you should apply as a transfer student.

Transfer Admission Criteria:

To be considered for admission, applicants must have a minimum, cumulative GPA of 2.0 from all colleges and universities attended. We require all previous college transcripts to consider admission.

Follow the steps to ensure a smooth transition. Any missing documents could lead to delays, so be sure to double-check everything before you submit!

You can order your documents through Parchment or Clearinghouse. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at admissions@tnstate.edu. We’re here to support you every step of the way!

Complete the Transfer Application

Make sure to fill out every required section. This is the first step in your journey!

Official High School Transcript

High school transcripts may be needed to determine eligibility for state aid for students who graduated from a Tennessee high school and/or are residents of Tennessee. These may also be used to satisfy the U.S. History general education requirement. Submit an official transcript that clearly indicates your graduation date. This helps us understand your academic background. The document must have the signature from a high school official and list graduation date.

Official College Transcripts

Provide official transcripts from all colleges you’ve attended. Please ensure these do not include in-progress grades for the term you’re applying for. Official transcripts must have a signature from the Registrar and be on official college paper.
