Continuing the Legacy

At its September 14, 2023, meeting, the TSU Board of Trustees announced its commencement of a global search to find President Glenda Glover’s successor as President of Tennessee State University.  The search will be comprehensive in nature, involve the TSU community’s input, and will lead to the Board’s appointment of the next President of TSU.

Search Firm

Academic Search, a nationally recognized and reputable higher education executive search firm, has been selected to assist the Board and the Search Committee in the Presidential search. Aptask Global, a search firm with primary experience in corporate and organization related executive searches, will assist Academic Search as part of the search process. John Garland (john.garland@academicsearch.org) and Maria Thompson (maria.thompson@academicsearch.org), both of whom serve as Senior Consultants for Academic Search, will act as the lead consultants on the search.

Presidential Search Update - Candidate Open Forums

(3/25/2024) The Presidential Search Committee is pleased to share that three finalists will visit the Tennessee State University campus on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, through Friday, March 29, 2024, to interview to be the next President of Tennessee State University.  The finalists are (by alphabetical order):  1) Dr. Charles J. Gibbs, Chief Executive Officer, National One Hundred Black Men of America, Inc.; 2) Dr. William E. Hudson; Vice President for Student Affairs, Florida A&M University; and 3) Dr. Michael Torrence, President, Motlow State Community College. 

The three finalists will participate in Open Forums with students, faculty, staff, University leadership, and other members of the TSU community.  The on-campus Open Forums will allow the TSU community an opportunity to meet the candidates and learn about their individual visions, perspectives, and qualifications to serve as the next TSU President.  These meetings will also allow TSU the opportunity to showcase its campus, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other members of the TSU community to the candidates.  Microsoft Teams links to the Open Forums are provided below.
