Dr. Jeffrey Tackett

Jeffrey Tackett grew up in the Denver Colorado and went to University of Colorado where he receiving a B.S. in Music and Media. Graduate studies include a Masters degree in Music Technology from the University of Indiana and holds a Doctorate in Computer Science Emerging Media from Colorado Technical University.
Professor Tackett began his career building and managing Studio Zero in Los Angeles. Studio Zero worked for A&M Records, Hollywood Records (Disney), and various other projects including radio, film, television, and jingle work. In 1990 he formed a band called the Singleman Party that toured and he served as guitar player, songwriter, producer, and engineer. The band was a finalist in “Best Unsigned Band” contest from the Yamaha Music Corp. While he was working with the band he helped build, and formed Kick Beat Records a successful small record company. Side projects included producing and writing projects for HBO & ESPN.
During the 1990s he consulted on break-through technologies with Digital Hearing Aids. In the early 2000’s Jeffrey relocated to Utah where he opened a recording studio. In 2002 he promoted and played at the Winter Olympics.
Prof. Tackett began working in education 2000 and taught guitar and recording arts at Utah Valley State College. Later he moved to Nashville Tennessee and was Audio/Media & Animation Department Chair at IADT. He then moved on to Kent State University and was appointed as Assistant Professor of Music.

Currently Prof. Tackett is in the Music Department at Tennessee State University. He teaches Applied Guitar, Commercial Music Ensemble, Music and Technology, and Basic and Advanced Recording classes.
