History, Political Science, Geography & Africana Studies

The Department of History, Political Science, Geography and Africana Studies offers undergraduate majors in:

• History (Bachelor of Arts, B.A.) and

• Political Science (Bachelor of Science, B.S.)

and minors in:

• Africana Studies, Geography, History and Political Science

TEACHER LICENSURE PROGRAMS

In partnership with the College of Education, it also provides undergraduate teaching licensure programs in:

• history,
• geography, and
• government

...and a graduate-level history concentration for the Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree.

PRE-LAW STUDIES

Political Science and History are the most popular majors of all students entering law school.  Students interested in law school should take courses that help to develop their analytical and communication skills. Classes offered in history, geography, and political science provide excellent preparation for honing these specific skills.

ORGANIZATIONS & ACTIVITIES

The department supports:

• honor societies for history and political science students,
• an active International Affairs Society and TISL chapter, and
• a monthly lecture series for the University and local community.
