Agricultural Research and Extension Centers
The College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Sciences maintains three Agricultural Research and Extension Centers to serve the needs of our stakeholders, students and faculty.
Ashland City AREC
The 124-acre Agricultural Research and Extension Center is located approximately 5 miles southeast of Ashland City, TN on the banks of the Cumberland River. The center is designed as a teaching and learning facility with applied research in agroforestry, aquaculture, small ruminant management, vegetable and small fruit production, sustainable agriculture, organic production, pesticide storage and handling, post harvest handling and environmental stewardship/water quality.
Main Campus AREC
Adjacent to the TSU main campus in Nashville, this facility is home to the meat goat research program, the TSU Community Garden, biofuels research, and other research and Extension programs. Soil maps are available in low resolution (1.5 mb) and high resolution (17 mb).
Otis L. Floyd Nursery Research Center
Located about 80 miles southeast of Nashville on the edge of the Cumberland Plateau, the Tennessee State University Otis L. Floyd Nursery Research Center is a research facility dedicated to the improvement of the Tennessee nursery crop industry. It is operated through a cooperative effort between Tennessee State University and the United States Department of Agriculture/Agricultural Research Service.
