Lucas Hopkins is quickly becoming known as a prominent soloist, chamber musician and educator comfortable in a variety of styles including classical, contemporary, jazz, and pop. Currently, he holds faculty positions at Austin Peay State University and Tennessee State University.

An active performer, he has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Oakland East Bay Symphony and has presented solo recitals and master classes at various universities. As the bass saxophonist of the internationally recognized saxophone sextet, The Moanin’ Frogs, the group regularly tours the country performing for concert series and giving educational workshops and masterclasses.   

Hopkins received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in saxophone performance and pedagogy at the University of Colorado, where he also taught the saxophone studio as a sabbatical replacement instructor. He also holds additional graduate degrees from The University of Michigan and Northwestern University, and his primary teachers include Eugene Rousseau, Timothy McAllister, and Tom Myer. Lucas Hopkins is a D’Addario Woodwinds and Conn-Selmer performing artist. ​
