Admissions

There are two possibilities for admission into Det. 790.  Choose the option that meets your needs:

TSU Student Admission Instructions

Tennessee State University students do not have to apply specifically to ROTC, instead they sign up during registration like a normal class.  The following are the classes that will need to be added for admission into the program:

• AERO 1010 (lecture)
• AERO 1011 (lab)

In addition, the following documents will need to be completed:

• Pre-Participatory Sports Physical (Form 28)
• Health Screening Questionnaire (Form 29)

Cross-town Student Admission Instructions

You do not have to be a student at Tennessee State University to become a cadet at Detachment 790.  Many of our cadets come from surrounding schools in the area.

The following schools are Det. 790 cross-town schools:

• Aquinas College (AC)
• Austin Peay State University (APSU)
• Belmont University (BU)
• David Lipscomb University (DLU)
• Fisk University (FU)
• Freewill Bible College (FWBBC)
• Meharry Medical College
• Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU)
• Nashville State Technical College (NSTC)
• Tennessee Technological University (TTU)
• Vanderbilt University (VU)
• Volunteer State Community College (VSCC)
• Western Kentucky University (WKU)

If you are a student or are going to be a student at one of the above schools and are interested in joining Det. 790, please download and read this letter from the desk of the Unit Admissions Officer (UAO):

• Prospective Cadet Letter

The following documents must be mailed (not faxed) to Det. 790 in order to enter the program:

• Crosstown Application
• Medical history
• Certificate of Immunization
• Meningococcal Meningitis and Hepatitis B Immunization Form
• Pre-Participatory Sports Physical (Form 28)
• Health Screening Questionnaire (Form 29)
• High school or college transcripts (not both)

The deadline for receiving these documents is:

• 1 July for Fall term
• 1 November for Spring term

After the needed documents have been received (about 2-weeks after mailed in), students will be able to register for AFROTC classes through the TSU web site.
