Class of 2013 | College of Agriculture, Human and Natural Sciences | Family and Consumer Sciences
The journey to Tennessee State University began a continent away for Nataliia Johnson. Born in Russia, Nataliia grew up in Ukraine, and moved to the United States, becoming a citizen in 2010. She is also fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, German and English.
She met her future husband in Nashville, who, just happened to be a TSU alumnus. When Nataliia decided to attend the University, she did so with her parents blessing, because they felt it would fulfill her personal and career objectives.
“My experience at Tennessee State University has far exceeded my expectations. I chose this University because it has an excellent dietetic program that meets all the requirements that I need to become a registered dietitian. In addition, since I am an international student, I wanted to be exposed to a diverse environment, and I believe TSU is the perfect place for that. My TSU experience has been very unique because of its diverse student culture and understanding faculty that gets involved in the lives of their students. Tennessee State University has provided me a great education while supporting my personal development.”
While her family may still live in the Ukraine, Nataliia feels right at home in Nashville. After graduation, she plans on continuing her education to become a registered dietitian.
“I realized what I wanted in life and TSU has given me the tools to achieve my goals.”
