Research
and Publications
The impetus for OIBP to promote research and publications was
initially provided by Prof. John Masten, former Dean of the College
of Business and avid researcher and writer. Prof. Masten, together
with his colleague, Prof. Bruce Hartmann, Head of the Economics
Department, was commissioned in 1998 by The Journal of Technology
Transfer to organize a special issue of that publication dedicated
to technology transfer to developing countries. The results of
that effort were published in Volume 25, No. 3, of the Journal
in October 2000 under the title "Symposium on Technology
Transfer to Developing Countries." Profs. Masten and Hartmann
provided the introduction to the special issue (pp. 263-264),
and four additional articles were contributed by College of Business
and other TSU faculty members.

Unfortunately, the publication of the October 2000 issue came
after the untimely death of Prof. Masten in March 2000. However,
the publishers agreed to dedicate the Symposium Issue to the memory
of John Masten.
