Economic Impact of New Academic Programs In Avon Williams Campus, TSU on the Greater Nashville Area Following the recommendation of Geier Consent decree settlement, Avon William Campus of Tennessee State University (TSU) will adapt eight new or modified programs for traditional and non-traditional students in TSU starting this fall. These new programs will bring both intellectual and economic contributions to the local community. This study examines the economic impact of new academic programs in AWC to the greater Nashville area. Impact is studied from two angles: expenditures of TSU on the new programs, and economic benefit that students derive upon graduating from the program on the local area. Our studies show that for every dollar TSU spent for the new programs, 2.08 dollar will be generated in the local area. And the expenditures will also bring 537 job opportunities as well as 2.0 million dollar ax revenues to the greater Nashville area. |
