Policies & Procedures

Reserve Policies

  1. All reserve materials are placed on reserve for one semester. The materials will be returned to the instructor after that time.
  2. All faculty members who place materials on reserve must be registered with the library system. The faculty member must supply a social security number, or preferably, a faculty ID card number, to register.
  3. Some things to remember:
  1. All photocopies should be on 8 1/2 x 11 paper as we have a letter size filing cabinet.
  2. Keep original of any copied materials. The reserve materials are heavily used and they wear out. Pages or sometimes entire documents are removed from the library, despite the best efforts of the circulation staff.
  3. Place your name and course number on the top sheet of each photocopy.
  4. Please do not tell students items are on reserve until the items have been taken to the library. Please allow 24 hours for an item to be placed on reserve.
  5. Please do not send students to the library with your material. Unfortunately, it may not get here. The library staff may need clarification about use or may have other questions.
  6. Faculty is encouraged to use web pages for reserves. Library personnel can help with this process.
  7. In Tennessee, library records are confidential by law. Therefore we are unable to keep lists of patrons who borrow your material.
  8. Reference book and journals owned by the library may not be placed on reserve.
