Nursing Databases

Academic Search Premier provides full text for nearly 4,000 scholarly publications, including full text for more than 3,100 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975. This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCO host.

AOTA (click on OT Search):  The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is the nationally recognized professional association for over 60,000 occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. These individuals work with people experiencing health problems such as stroke, spinal cord, injuries, cancer, congenital conditions, developmental problems, and mental illness, in a wide range of practice settings including hospitals, nursing facilities, home health agencies, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, psychiatric facilities and schools. 

BIOSIS Previews (Biological Abstracts) (1990 - present) combines the journal reference content from Biological Abstracts with the references to meetings, reviews, books, and monographs from Biological Abstracts/RRM (Reports, Reviews, Meetings). Dissertations @ TSU: A listing of dissertations and theses from Tennessee State University. You can search citations and abstracts of dissertations and theses submitted by TSU and published in UMI's Dissertation Abstracts database, view 24 page previews of dissertations and theses published after 1996 (available this summer), and download the full text of dissertations and theses published after 1996. (If you are an authorized user, the downloaded copies are free.)

Entrez: the Life Sciences Search Engine is a powerful federated search engine, or web portal that allows users to search a multiple of discrete health sciences databases, maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information with a single query string and user interface.

ERIC (Educational Resource Information Center) contains more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals. This database is updated on a daily basis.

General OneFile  (Help Guide) is a one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology, and many general interest topics. Millions of full-text articles, many with images. Updated daily.

INFOTRIEVE is a research portal offering full-service document retrieval and delivery services, current awareness alerts, databases on the web, and a variety of tools to simplify the process of identifying, retrieving, and paying for published literature.

MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE allows users to search abstracts from over 4,600 current biomedical journals.

New York Online Access to Health (NOAH) provides access to high quality full-text consumer health information in English and Spanish.

Project MUSE covers the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, and many others.

PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine, provides access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources.

Pub Med Central is the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature.

ScienceDirect offers access to the Elsevier Science journal collection (over 1,200 titles), along with journals from a host of prestigious societies and STM publishers. The full text collection of over 1 million articles from 1995 to present covers a wide variety of subject areas and disciplines, including: Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Business & Management Science, Chemistry, Clinical Medicine, Earth Sciences, Economics, Engineering & Technology, Environmental Science, Materials Science, Mathematics & Computer science, Microbiology & Immunology, Neurosciences, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Physics, and Social Sciences.

Scientific and Medical Arts IMAGEbase created by Nucleus Medical Art, provides a comprehensive collection of downloadable medical illustrations and animations.
