Mission
Preparing Students to be Information-literate Citizens
Our goal is to prepare students to be information literate citizens who will
become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. We define information literacy
as the “ ability to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to
locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information” ACRL, 2000. Our
students will attain critical thinking and information literacy skills by the
following:
-
promotion of the use of print and electronic resources
-
partnering with the faculty in integrating the information literacy in
individual courses and academic programs
-
providing instruction to individuals, groups and classes in formal and
informal settings, face-to-face or electronically where classes meet
-
focusing on the learning outcomes to gauge our effectiveness and continuous
review and renewal of our skills and programs
