| | |
| The Developmental Studies Program at Tennessee State | University provides students in developmental courses the opportunity for | | diagnostic advancement into the next-level course at the beginning of the term. | | | WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN DIAGNOSTIC ADVANCEMENT? |
| | | v | Students enrolled in this course for the first time. Any student | | | who is repeating a class for any reason or who has diagnostically | | | advanced and then failed the course into which they advanced are not | | | eligible for diagnostic advancement. | v | Students who are present during all stages of the diagnostic testing | | | period. The diagnostic testing period begins the first day of class. | | | NOTE: The diagnostic tests for Writing (DSPW 0800) and Reading | | | (DSPR 0800) have two parts. Students MUST be present for both parts | | | of the test and meet the advancement criteria for both parts of the test | | | to be eligible to advance to the next level. | v | Students without a high school deficiency in English or math. | | | Students who have a high school deficiency in math are not eligible to | | | diagnostically advance from DSPM 0850, and students who have a | | | high school deficiency in English are not eligible to diagnostically | | | advance from DSPW 0800. |
| | | | | A student who diagnostically advances into a course and does not | | pass that course MUST re-enroll in the course from which he/she | | advanced. For example, if a student enrolls in DSPW 0800 and advances to | | English 1010 but fails English 1010, that student must re-enroll in and complete | | DSPW 0800 the next semester. If a student enrolls in DSPR 0800 and advances | | to a college reading-related course (i.e. History, Sociology, Biology, etc.)but fails the | | college reading-related course, that student must re-enroll in and complete | | DSPR 0800 the next semester. | | | Click here to learn about diagnostic procedures and required scores | |
