Senior Exit Examination
The Tennessee Board of Regents institutions are required to assess the outcomes of their educational programs by evaluating all graduating students with a measure of general academic knowledge and skills. The ETS Measure of Academic Proficiency and Progress (MAPP)--Abbreviated Form is the test currently used as the Senior Exit Exam at TSU. Prior to July 2006, the ETS Academic Profile was administered as the Senior Exit Exam. All TSU seniors must take this test as a requirement for graduation. Foreign students whose first language is not English are exempt from this requirement.
The MAPP--Abbreviated Form consists of 36 multiple-choice questions, ranging in difficulty from quite easy to fairly difficult, and requires approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Link to ETS for sample questions from MAPP. There is no fee for TSU students taking the Senior Exit Exam. Students are encouraged to take the Senior Exit Exam as early as possible in the academic year in which they plan to graduate. If their graduation is postponed, students are not required to take the Senior Exit Exam again. Students should go to their major departmental office to register for the Senior Exit Exam.
