Introduction

The Distinguished Support Staff Service Award will be presented to a person who, in the preceding twelve (12) months, has demonstrated outstanding initiative, inventiveness, resourcefulness, dedication, and service above and beyond the call of duty in their employment in the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Research.

The awardee must be a current, permanent, Tennessee State University employee who has held a minimum 51% IAgER appointment for the year nominated. IAgER support staff personnel (Category 1300) are eligible for this award.

Nominations for the award can be made by anyone at Tennessee State University. Self-nominations are allowed.

This award will be made to one qualified IAgER support staff person each year during which at least one support staff member meets requirements set by the Recognition and Awards Committee. If no applicant/nominee meets the requirements, the award will not be presented during that year.

There is no limitation on the number of times a person can win this award.

Award Process:

You should submit a completed application form and all required documentation, if applying yourself. If you are nominating another person, you should submit the completed nomination form with the following information:

• The nominee's name and position

• A brief description of the nominee's employment duties

• A description (no length limitation) of the initiative, inventiveness, resourcefulness, dedication, and service above and beyond the call of duty for which the nominee is being nominated

Each nominee will be contacted to verify that he/she wants to participate in the award process. Those nominees declining to participate in the process will have their nominations withdrawn.

The Recognition and Awards Committee will verify the names and duties of the persons nominated. The Committee will also verify the accuracy of all information submitted. Multiple nominations for the same person will be pooled into one nomination.

The Awards and Recognition committee will obtain from the nominee's team leader or supervisor an assessment form, which will be included in the nominee's application packet.  This assessment by the team leader or supervisor will include the specific of: (1) The nominee's support of the Institute's and Team's goals, (2) How well the nominee work with colleagues, students and stakeholders, (3) Whether the nominee completes assigned tasks, completes them in an exemplary manner, completes them on time, etc. and (4) Any other pertinent details related to performance of duties.
