Pre-Law

Why study pre-law at TSU?

Why study Political Science if I want to go to law school?

The most common undergraduate degree of attorneys is political science. The political science major/minor provides excellent preparation for law school with an emphasis on developing critical thinking and communication skills. With either a concentration in American or international politics, you will be able to focus on a full range of law classes such as Constitutional Law (Civil Liberties & Rights; Federalism); Judicial Process; Gender, Sexuality, and U.S. Law; Immigration Law; Environmental Law; and Sports Law. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate on our Appellate Moot Court Collegiate Challenge (AMC3) team, Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL) team, Model United Nations (MUN) team, and serve as a legislative intern. Our department emphasizes good advising and we can help you successfully navigate your path into law school.
