Soumendra Ghosh, Ph.D., is currently a Full Professor of Economics at Tennessee State University (TSU). He has served the department of Economics and Finance at Tennessee State University as its Department Chairman from 2007 - 2015. It is through his initiative, Tennessee State University has established a joint MBA program with Tianjin Poly Technique University (TJPU) in Tianjin, China. Dr, Ghosh has expanded the academic program at the department of Economics and Finance extensively: MBA concentration in Finance; BBA- Concentrations in Economics, Finance, and International Business.

Prior to his taking the helm of the department of Economics and Finance Dr. Ghosh served TSU as the Director of its Office of Business and Economic Research (OBER) from Fall' 2001 – Summer 2007. During this period he brought significant (over a million dollars) number of research grants and contracts to the University. Prior to coming to TSU, Dr. Ghosh has served New Mexico State University (NMSU) as an associate professor of economics. He has served the College of Business Administration & Economics at New Mexico State since 1987.

Dr. Ghosh teaches graduate level quantitative methods, managerial economics, environmental economics, economic development and mathematical economics courses. His primary focus of research is in the area of urban economics, environmental economics, water resources, renewable energy development, health economics, and economic development. He has been awarded outstanding researcher as well as outstanding graduate teacher in the College of Business Administration & Economics at New Mexico State University.

Dr. Ghosh has been consulting with numerous International and domestic agencies including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, USAID, USEPA, and Homeland Security Office, and private firms. He features regularly on local Television, (Channels 5, 4, 17) and newspaper (Tennessean) as an expert.
