COURSE DESCRIPTION FOR <= u>COMP3170:Applied Operating System

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Topics will include the basic Unix operating environment commands, such = as accessing the system, accessing files and directories, directory and file command, searching for files and text, file security, visual editor, adding users and groups, and more.

 

PRER= EQUISITE

1. J= unior or senior status and at least 18 hours of CS courses previously complete

2. Students taking this course must have successfully completed COMP 2400 (CS240)  with a grade of ‘C’ or better.

 

COMPETENCLES STUDENTS A= RE EXPECTED TO MASTER

By the end of this semester the student should be able to:

1.  Add users and groups.

2.  Configure user initialization file.

3.  Create and mount a file system.

4.  Repair a corrupted file system.

5.  Change system run levels.

6.  Add software package.
