News Of  Day

Dr. Hargrove, Keith; the New Dean of College of Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science has arrived.

The Digital Electronic Computer was invented in late 1930s by Professor John Vincent Atanasoff at Iowa State University in Ames Iowa USA. The first digital electronic computer built was named ABC (Atanasoff Berry Computer). ABC had limited data storage capacity and computational speed. Today computers, in addition to processing innermost volumes of data incredibly fast, operate from simple machines, like washing machines, to highly sophisticated machines like the NASA's space Shuttle. The fastest super computer can carry out up to sixty  trillion operations per second. The world of business, industry and manufacturing are highly dependent on computers. The computer communication has reduced the whole planet earth to a single entity. It is claimed that ,"the computer science is all science".

TSU Computer Science Department has a modern program that offers courses in computer hardware. computer management, computer programming, software engineering( design and production), game programming, database management systems, robotics, and Data Communication and Networking. CS Department has faculty members that are dedicated to their students. They are updated with the latest advances in their areas of interests. Most of the CS faculty members have long term teaching experiences and are also excellent researchers. The CS department, following the College of Engineering's policy and practices, encourages faculty to engage in funded and non-funded research. The CS Program has been audited and approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) "Academic Audit". A copy of the report is included here: Assessment

TSU Computer Science Students come from all over USA and from other nations. They can find jobs in business, industry and government offices.

TSU College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science is the leading college at TSU in acquiring funds for research. Many faculty/student groups are engaged in interdisciplinary research. Undergraduate students are partners in these research projects.

TSU Communication System is quite advanced. Almost all offices, dormitories, classes and  labs are connected to the Internet via a local area network and a wireless network.  top ts
