Students, Alumni and Friends,

Welcome back for the new school year.  I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  As you have already noticed, the Career Development Center has a newly designed home page.  Kudos to our Communications Specialist, Ms. Tonya Fizer.  Our look isn’t the only thing that’s changed.  We have added some items, we believe, will enhance the undergraduate academic process.  First, we have a new section called What Can I Do with this Major?  This software highlights a student’s academic major and lists the types of careers that are associated with it and the strategies to attain these careers.  For example, biology majors have many professional careers to contemplate besides medicine and dentistry.   Next, we have our SKILL MAP section that lists all relevant academic undergraduate courses offered at TSU within a specific academic major.  If a student wants to be a print journalist, all of the 3000 and 4000 level classes necessary for career success are listed for that profession.  We have also added a section called The Interview Process that answers student’s what-to-do questions.  We also have starting salary information and links to professional organization web pages.

The staff of the Career Development Center stands ready to assist you in melding your academic skill sets with your career aspirations.  Please visit our office in the Floyd-Payne Campus Center, suite 304 or call us at (615) 963-5981.

Cordially,

Bill Gittens, Ed.D

Executive Director
