Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering

Tennessee State University, College of Engineering invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor Positions in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, with a Fall 2019 starting date.  The first position is Architectural Engineering program in a specialty area of Building Mechanical Systems and Building Energy Efficiency. The second position is Structural Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications: For the Architectural Engineering Position: A Ph.D. degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering or closely related discipline. Candidate must be qualified to teach courses in the core curriculum of the Architectural Engineering program with demonstrated college level teaching skills in mechanical (HVAC) and Lighting areas and research skills within the specialization. Relevant industry experience and professional registration (e.g., PE, LEED, PMP l); and knowledge about ABET accreditation process.

Minimum Qualifications: For the Structural Engineering Position: An Earned Doctorate in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, architectural engineering or closely related areas. The potential candidate must have a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and leadership; a strong record of externally funded research; demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and knowledge about ABET accreditation. The application must include the candidate’s plans for productive scholarly and research in related area. A candidate with a registration as a Professional Engineer or qualifications to obtain a P.E. registration is preferred

Responsibilities: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of architectural engineering or structural engineering; advising undergraduate and graduate students; developing and maintaining a sponsored research program; publishing research results in the peer-reviewed journals and proceedings; and providing service to the department, college, university, the industries, and professional organizations.
