CIT Media Specialist

The Center for Instructional Technology invites applications for two CIT Media Specialist positions. The CIT Media Specialists will provide media-related support services to the CIT customers and staff, primarily in the CIT walk-in area. This position will include training, guiding and supervising the CIT student workers who also work in the walk-in area.

Successful candidate must have knowledge and understanding of instructional media applications, equipment and processes related to web, image, audio and video editing, streaming media and digital photography. Applications include: Windows, Mac OS, iMovie, Photoshop, Final Cut Express/Pro and others. Knowledge of other instructional technologies including Blackboard and HTML editors such as Dreamweaver preferred.

Must have ability to assist others in developing skills and knowledge related to instructional media; to create instructional media files and products using Mac and PC-based applications and various equipment including CD and DVD burners, data converters, digital cameras (video and still) and audio components; and to effectively integrate instructional media with other technologies especially web-oriented technologies. Salary minimum starting $31,352.00.

Assistant Director of Media Services

The Center for Instructional Technology invites applications for an Assistant Director of Media Services. The position of Assistant Director of Media Services involves three primary tasks: to lead in the development, maintenance, improvement and promotion of various multimedia production systems and related services; to lead and oversee work of other media production and support staff; and to participate in providing services as needed. The AD of Media Services will also facilitate workshops related to digital media, develop training and support materials, and research applications and issues related to instructional digital media.

Must have demonstrated knowledge of and skills related to various multimedia production technologies including non-linear digital video editing. Ability to work in both Mac and PC environments required. Ability to effectively facilitate workshops and individual instructional sessions required. Superior customer service skills are critical. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technologies such as Blackboard and Elluminate preferred. Prefer Masters degree in Media Arts and Sciences, Educational or Instructional Technology, or a related area, with an emphasis on internet/web environments and multimedia production techniques and tools.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Lab Manager-   

    Geology  

The Department of Geology and Environmental Science (http://www.jmu.edu/geology) at James Madison University is seeking a full time, 12-month Administrative and Professional Faculty member to serve as Lab Manger.

The successful candidate will maintain readiness in instructional and research laboratories, including departmental technologies, and assist faculty with purchasing of lab supplies and equipment. They will also maintain and document an accurate account of the department budget and inventory, maintain and assist faculty with research grant accounting, and make purchasing decisions.

The candidate should have at least a Master's Degree in the geosciences at the time of appointment, and may have the opportunity to teach geology classes and/or labs. The candidate must possess interpersonal skills that enable them to interact with students, staff, faculty and administration at a professional level, must be able to work independently, and participate on/in department, college and university committees/events.  Salary it will be commensurate with experience.
