Bio Education Courses Taught Publications and Awards

Thomas Lechner, Ph.D., C.P.A., C.G.M.A., has taught accounting for more than twenty years.  He is currently Associate Professor of Accounting at Tennessee State University. His previous positions were at Cleveland State University, SUNY-Oswego, University of Utah and Eastern Michigan University.  He has four years auditing experience with Arthur Andersen & Co. where he audited various publicly traded companies and was also in their management consulting practice.  Prior to that he was an insurance examiner for the State of Iowa.  His Ph.D. is from University at Buffalo, his MS in Economics from Iowa State University and his BA in Economics from Carleton College.

Dr. Lechner has published research on a variety of financial accounting, tax, technology and pedagogical topics in the Journal of Business, Finance and Accounting, Journal of Accounting Education, Today’s CPA and other academic and practitioner publications.

He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Accounting Association, Institute of Management Accountants, American Economic Association and American Finance Association.

At Tennessee State University he has chaired the Faculty Search Committee for two years and advised Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting honorary society.
