HBCUs and
Partner Schools
The target populations for the
SITES-M project include: Pre-service teachers at the participating HBCUs and
selected K-4 in-service teachers and pupils at these campuses’ partner
elementary schools in Nashville, Knoxville, Jackson and Memphis. These
college-school partnerships are the cornerstone of this statewide project.
In
addition to seeking to improve the knowledge of mathematics for teaching,
SITES-M seeks to create a closer relationship between those institutions that
prepare teachers and those that employ them. Each HBCU campus was asked to
identify a partner school, preferably one with which it already had an
established relationship and to which it regularly sends its teacher graduates.
