Education:

Joe Richie is currently the Director of the Center for Media Arts and Production for the Department of Communications, and manages the universitys student-run radio station, WTST. Originally from South Carolina, Richie has been a professional in the communications industry for close to thirty years. He studied English, music, and theater at Florida State University, received a B.A. in English from Voorhees College, and earned an M.M.A. in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina. Richie has produced and directed numerous radio and television shows for broadcast and cable, including commercials, fine arts programs, collegiate and professional sports, political forums, and educational and promotional videos for public and private institutions. He has managed both radio and television stations, and is a former professor and department chair in the Ohio University School of Telecommunications. He has published two books on broadcast and cable programming, and has been a media trainer and consultant for universities and broadcast outlets in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Russia. Shortly before arriving at TSU, he designed a masters degree program in media management and production for the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Kiev, Ukraine where he also taught for a semester. Richie is the first cousin of singer-songwriter, Lionel Richie.
